ABOUT
Kkeda
A life-story that changed my world.

IT START WITH -
An endless passion for music, for voices,
for discovery, for people, for life.
The pilgrimage through two of the most influential continents in music is at first guided by the unmistakable bounce of the drum patterns, before the subtle transitions between Twi, Patios and Pidgin grant us passage through these sacred lands. The feeling of being in two places at once is just one of the impossible sensations you experience whenever you’re in the gentle caress of KKEDA’s voice.
KKEDA’s own journey began when she was just four years old, where her uncle would play classic Ben E King records for her on piano. This awakened something in her that she has been driven by ever since, and by age six, she was already featured on some of the biggest tracks to come out of Africa. Although it was in the form of a beat tag, it shows just how rich KKEDA’s genealogy is.
It was the relocation to Ghana from her birthplace in the UK that allowed KKEDA to germinate her Caribbean roots in the African soil. She never lost touch with the UK though, and would travel back frequently, eventually attending theatre school in the capital allowing her to explore many different avenues of creativity. KKEDA was able to develop her design and clothing company, which sold out it’s first capsule and gained interest from consumers all over the world.
But music has always remained her true calling. Answering it wasn’t so simple, as KKEDA faced many setbacks before her first track saw the light of day. However, that first track remains tucked away in the dark recesses of the internet and lives on through the forgotten art of file sharing. Now a prized possession amongst digital archivists, it’s something that KKEDA still receives messages about six years on. Ghanaian music folklore aside, her first official release I Like It, was on a Ground Up compilation album, which placed her alongside other future stars like Kwesi Arthur, Twitch 4Eva and Suli Breaks.
KKEDA has an unbreakable sense of self belief, that informs her songwriting and creative processes. Naturally, her own compositions are filled with lyrics related to struggle, and the work it takes to overcome it. That’s not to say the music is one dimensional, KKEDA’s piscean need to feel means that she’s never short on stimuli to inspire the next hit record.
A toxic relationship then becomes perfect fodder in the mind of a creative attuned to Neptune’s astrological properties. While in this mire of emotions KKEDA created her latest EP, and the six tracks encapsulate how she was able to blossom in spite of the toxicity she was surrounded by. With an ever growing collection of songwriting credits, and a view to begin exploring the world of Pop, KKEDA is on course to become an internationally revered superstar.
